Grégoire Lacaille

Hello, my name is Grégoire and I’m working at the company Gooch&Housego in Ilminster (England). I come from Paris, where I spent and enjoyed most of my 23 years of life. I am quite sedentary, so it was kind of a step to go from a capital to this little town – but the opportunities were shining bright enough to overshadow the drawbacks. 15 months later, some of these have exceeded expectations, other fell short – but on the whole, it wasn’t a bad choice.
The title of my project is “adhesive-free bonding of exotic materials”, which is purposely pretty vague… I will have plenty of occasions to talk more about what I’m doing though, to help you develop a mental picture.

Outside of work, I find great enjoyment in playing games. I seize every opportunity to gather with people around a board or cards game, and when no one is available I usually fall back to video games, which also let me share moments with some people I can’t see as often as I used to. I also watch a lot of films of every kind, both the good and bad ones.

On a more artistic side, I enjoy painting and assembling models (essentially figurines). It started with playing related games and I like to believe that it is what gave me the taste of practical work in laboratory. With that in mind, don’t be surprised if some of my pieces pop here and there with no apparent link with what I’m writing…

From a hobby to the laboratory. I traded my brushes for pipettes, my paints for chemicals and I just keep doing something I enjoy!
