ESR meeting High School Students

Two days ago (23/11/2016), we had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with teenaged students from a local high school at EGO institute. This morning we did an outreach activity where we explained our scientific backgrounds and our research fields. They also discovered how at Advanced VIRGO interferometer we work on many topics in which they are interested. This was done through a game in which we were separated into groups and we helped them to make project proposals to explain science related to gravitational wave field.

At the end of this activity, the students were interested about knowing what is the Galileo experiment. Dr. Antonino Chiummo, who is a scientist at EGO, explained the experiment and the students were able to see how two different objects with different weights (sponge and ball of steel) fall at the same speed and reach the ground at the same time if we put them in vacuum.
